I love love this book. If you are on the fence, just get it. It's Murakami! Not too lengthy where you wouldn't bother cracking it open, but just enough amazing artwork and eye candy to keep you revisiting. I love that the cover is cushioned, it adds a nice texture. The pages are nice and sturdy and honestly, I could stare at Murakami artwork all the time! I love his series of work featured in this book and am contemplating buying more as gifts!
I find Murakami's pop art is really fascinating, and bought a book after attending his exhibition in Boston. Still the book itself turned out to be a bit pricy for me as some of his pop art images are presented in different sizes and on several pages. I also expected to find more of his works, but I didn't. Most of them I saw in the exhibition. I think more information about his unique artistic style would be great, but information is limited! And finally, you couldn't look inside of the book on amazon before making a purchasing decision.
I saw these books at the Brooklyn Museum retrospective, was impressed with the quality of the paper and printing, and then thrilled to get a new copy for so much less $$ than at the Museum store! (Which was sold out of them anyway.)Murakami's work is not for the faint of heart. If you are not already familiar with his tropes, or those of modern Japanese art and anime, this book will immerse you and draw you in. You might spend hours poring over the fantastic details in the paintings, making delightful discoveries of characters and actions. A great gift book too!
This a beautifully produced book with a great collection of Murakami images -- paintings, sculptures, etc., -- with some very interesting and accessible essays. It's an accompaniment to the @Murakami gallery show that was in Los Angeles and is now in Brooklyn through July. However, it clearly stands alone, and will last a long time on your coffee table or displayed in your home. If you like his stuff, this is the book to get. (and you might now understand "Super Flat" and "DOB"!)

Comprehensive guide to Murakami's work, ideation, and process with beautifully printed large images of his work.If you love his work, or simply want a nice colorful book for your coffee table - it's a must have. I keep it on my desk in my office for inspiration!The padded cover is a nice touch as well.
It came in with a huge, deep cut on the cover :( Very disappointed in the quality. The package did not have any cuts on it, the cut was just on the cover.
went to exhibition w/girlfriend. waited 3 months for amazon to re-stock. got hardcover for aforementioned gf for grad present. came brand new and shipped fast. abundance of images. btw, brooklyn museum sells this thing for 90, so if found for less, get asap while still being printed.
