I got this workbook at the request of my sons preschool. I have seen several reviews saying their children were too advanced for the book and it wasn't helpful. My son is 4 and still learning to write out lower case letters. He knows his alphabet, and can word identify a few words and write out the alphabet in upper case but he is not reading just yet. This is a excellent starting tool, and honestly I can't imagine any 3-5 year old that has no need for practicing writing, but kudos to the parents that pushed their children to that level. I am pleased with the level it is for my son, and he enjoys the book. I would recommend it for 3-5 age group.
Maybe the standards have changed, but this book seems more like a preschool book than a Kindergarten book. It focuses mostly on letters A-Z and numbers 1-10 there is no addition or subtraction and only a couple sight words like A and I. In my area Kindergarteners are expected to know far more.
Simple enough for my preschooler for the most part. Lots of tracing and mazes more than anything. Some basic math. The "Brain Quest Mini Deck" is just a sheet of normal paper you can cut "cards" out of. The stickers are just letter stickers and your basic "great job" stickers. If you are getting this just to keep your 3-5 yr old busy, it will probably work. If you are homeschooling, skip this and go to The Good and the Beautiful or "The Reading Lessons" and handwriting books by Michael Levin.
Very good workbook, definitely just for practice or supplement. This gives a good overview of where your child has strengths and weaknesses but is too easy to be sole K curriculum. It's more for fun or to practice what they are taught. :) geared more toward pre k in my opinion.
Great supplement for our homeschool curriculum! My 5 year old has been using it for several months now and really enjoys the games and puzzles! Will probably get the first grade book before she finishes kindergarten as she has advanced so quickly!
It arrived in perfect condition and sooner than we anticipated. My daughter likes it very much because the exercises are age appropriate so she doesn't feel frustrated and gives her the right challenge. Also, it has some small stickers at the end of the book which are good to use as an incentive.
This book is so fun for my daughter to use. She is in preschool right now and it is perfect for her. I plan on buying the 1st grade one for the summer before kindergarten. I feel like the books are off year in the labeling but they have fun and creative ways for your child to learn. I have bought a few other workbooks and this is by far that best one. My daughter asks to do the worksheets everyday.
Purchased this a while ago but I used it to homeschool my son among other methods. This book is designed well and covers everything you can think of in terms of lessons. I would continue to use Brain Quest products and would highly recommend this.
